The yellow, unstreaked head and underparts and the black eyeline identify the Blue-winged Warbler. The Blue-winged Warbler occassionally hybridizes with the Golden-winged Warbler to produce offspring with characteristics of both parents.

Blue-winged Warblers feed on insects, and spiders.

Their breeding habitat is open scrubby areas. Blue-winged Warblers nest on the ground or low in a bush, laying 4-7 eggs in a cup nest.
